Description
The 2S7 Pion, delivered from 1976 to the Soviet Army , is based on a modified T-80 tank chassis, with a 203  mm caliber 2A44 external cannon capable of firing more than 2 rounds per minute, for an effective range of 37.5  km with conventional shells and 55.5  km with propelled ammunition. During the Cold War , it had the ability to fire an atomic shell .

It takes the name of 2S7M "Malka" after being modernized during the 1980s and carries an equipment increased to eight shells against four previously 1 .

It is designed to “deal with very heavily fortified and/or high value-added targets (command posts, for example). » 3 .
