Who is the AT4 anti-armor?




Brief

The AT4 (AT4 CS), for "  Anti-Tank 4 Confined Space "  ,   is a single-use 84  mm anti -tank rocket launcher , manufactured by the Swedish company Bofors since the very early 1980s .

It is also manufactured in the United States , in a slightly modified form ( M136AT-4 ) for the US Army , and used by many armies, notably the French Army . Its name is the phonetic translation of the English "  Eighty Four  " , which comes from the 84  mm caliber of the rocket.

Releases
AT4 HEAT  : (HEAT: High Explosive Anti-Tank ) base version with standard shaped charge. Use strongly discouraged in closed environments. Penetration: 420  mm armour;
AT4 CS  : (CS: Confined Space ) version usable in restricted environments;
AT4 CS HP  : "  High Performance  " version of the AT4 CS. Improved shaped charge and armor penetration greater than 500  mm  ;
AT4 CS AST  : for “  Tandem Anti-Structure  ”. Version with tandem charge intended for the destruction of buildings and various structures. Acts by breath and fragmentation.
AT4 F2  : New generation under development since 2014 for the French Army . It can fire an anti-armour (ABL) rocket, an anti-structure (AST) rocket and an anti-personnel (AP) rocket. Once coupled with a new non-disposable aiming aid, absent on the CS F1 version, the AP rocket will provide an effective airburst mode up to 1,000 meters. A night firing capability is planned for 2020
